Description:

Manufactured by the firm of V. Charles Schilling of Suhl, the Bergmann was developed in the mid 1890s, improved upon by Louis Schmeisser, and was produced in limited numbers. Blade front and notch rear sights, German "crown/crown/U" proofs, Schilling "mountain man" oval logo on the right side of the frame, and a series of numbers on the individual components to denote order of disassembly. Fitted with a straw finished trigger and hammer, niter blue safety, and checkered walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 95% of the original blue finish, 80% original straw colors, and 50% of the original nitre blue with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey or brown patina, most noticeably at the muzzle and on the grip straps. The grips are fine with a few minor flat spots and dings, and otherwise well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
