Description:

The grouping consists of four cuff titles for the 1st Fallschirmjaeger Division and a Crete cuff; while the Crete cuff was a multi-branch award, it is strongly associated with German paratroopers, including the 1st Division (then named the 7th Fliegerdivision). All four Division cuffs are green felt construction with "Fallschirm-Division" lettering, two with the lettering in off-white thread and two in silver thread. In turn, each set of lettering includes one without border and one with a matching colored border. The Crete cuff is of white cloth construction, with "KRETA" in gold cloth thread flanked by acanthus leaf patterns with gold thread borders. All five are noted by the consignor as being formerly of the George Petersen collection; one (silver wire, sans borders) is noted as being unpublished, with the other Fallschirm-Division cuffs pictured on pages 153 and 154 of "German Military Cuffbands 1784-Present" by Williamson and McGuirl. Provenance: The Putnam Green/Sycamore Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, with mild handling marks. The off-white lettering/borders cuff shows some moth holes, and the silver lettering/borders cuff shoes wear and thinning of the borders.
