The first true commercial contract Luger pistols, the "American Eagle 1900" was intended explicitly for the American market. This 1900 has been fitted out with an Ideal stock/holster; an early development, the Ideal predates the integral stock mounting iron brought in for later Lugers, and provided a fairly elegant solution without requiring permanent modification of the handgun. These pistols fall in the 2000-20000 serial number range, and approximately 11,000 to 12,000 were manufactured, as well as an additional 1,000 for testing by the U.S. military. Fixed sights, with the signature "American Eagle" on the chamber, fast-taper barrel, flat-top breechblock, dished toggles with integral lock, hold-open, niter blue and straw colored small parts, and a nickel finished magazine with unmarked hardwood base. The small parts are numbered in the early commercial pattern. A pair of Ideal grips have been installed, with smooth wood panels installed over a metal frame. The included Ideal holster is constructed with a blued steel framework around a leather body, with adjustable belt clip and telescoping arm assembly. Also included is a walnut stand. Fine, retains 60% plus of the original blue finish and 50% of the original straw colors with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina, primarily on edges and handling areas, and a few scattered spots of light pitting. The grips are very good with some light chipping along the back edges and otherwise scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The combination stock/holster is very good showing a mottled grey-brown patina overall and some moderate wear and tearing to the leather.
