ENGLAND." marked on the left and right barrels respectively, 1977 dated London proofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The casehardened sidelock assisted-opening action displays extensive classic English rose and scroll engraving with "J. PURDEY & SONS." marked on either lockplate and "J. PURDEY & SONS./LONDON/ENGLAND" on the underside. The gun features bushed firing pins, double triggers, and tang mounted automatic safety switch with gold inlaid "SAFE". Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings, including the Anson button release, and straight grip stock with teardrop flats, gold inlaid "JCH" straight in to the stock, and leather covered recoil pad. The included factory letter confirms the current gauge, barrel length, chambers, rib, recoil pad, three letter inlay, and beavertail forend when it was completed in September of 1977. Includes a leather bound takedown case with "J. C. HUTCHESON/HOUSTON/TEXAS" on the exterior and gun specifications on a label on the interior lid, nickel snap cap, and a nickel oiler. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved at .615 inches and both measured at .617 inches; choke constriction .008/.011 inches; minimum wall thickness .031/.030 inches; 1 5/8 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 13 oz.
