This c. mid-17th century rifle has a swamped, rifled barrel with dovetailed blade and notch sights, a maker's mark that appears to be a man with a sword with the letter "U" to the right, and a short tang. The lock has an internal wheel, floral engraving, and bestial designs on the dog and jaw. The rifle is fired using adjustable double set triggers. The furniture is iron and includes a single ramrod ferrule (replacement) trigger guard with spire shaped finials, a sling swivel, a sling stud, and a heel plate. The stock has stag-horn/bone washers for the lock screws, raised floral relief carving at the front and rear of the cheek rest, and a wooden patchbox lid with similar relief carving visible at the front. A modern-made spanner is included.
