This Austrian combination gun was made by the well-respected Viennese gunmaker Kalezky who is known to have made guns for the Austro-Hungarian imperial family. With blued “Bohler Blitz Stahl” barrels constructed with the smoothbore shotgun barrel above the rifled barrel and with single extractor. The upper barrel has a full length raised matted sighting rib with bead front sight, rear sight of two folding leaves and signature panel engraved “JOH. KALEZKY”, the remainder of the signature panel obscured by a period mounting block for a detachable telescopic sight. Casehardened scroll engraved action and rebounding backaction locks. Casehardened trigger plate with set trigger for the rifled barrel and casehardened trigger guard engraved with further scrollwork. Figured 13 1/2 inch semi-pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, dark horn pistol grip cap and grooved heel plate, and checkered panels to the grip and forearm. The underside of the butt with blank oval initial escutcheon and blued sling mount, the corresponding sling mount fitted beneath the barrels. Original Austrian proof marks, London 2019 nitro reproof marks and an import mark on the lower barrel beneath the forearm.

Good. The barrels retaining 90% original blued finish with clear engraving and sharp engraved matted pattern to the rib. Action and locks retaining 80% original casehardened finish, tip of the right hand hammer spur with old chip. Set trigger mechanism at fault. Stock with well defined checkering, numerous scattered age related storage and handling marks and blemishes. Mechanically very good.
