Manufactured and registered prior to 1986, this M-16 pattern auto sear has been installed into a Colt AR-15 9mm carbine to make it capable of fully automatic fire. A pin hole has been drilled into the fire control unit pocket to install the needed support, and the right side of the lower receiver has been marked with the address and serial number of the sear. As currently installed, the markings on the sear itself are obscured. Note that the text of the tax stamp describes this sear as permanently installed in the AR-15 in this lot; it is not a "drop in" component, and can not be installed in an AR-15 without modification to the lower receiver.

This is pre-1994 Ban AR15 9mm carbine that was reconfigured to act as a host for the X-Ring sear. Post front sight and two leaf rear sight with windage adjustment, bird cage flash hider, bayonet lug and ribbed round handguard on the barrel, and the standard Colt markings on the left side of the receiver. The right handed selector switch is marked "SAFE"/"FIRE"/"AUTO" on the left side and "0"/"1"/"A" on the right. Slight adjustments have been made to the bolt to properly accommodate the full auto hammer and interface with the auto-sear. Fitted with a checkered pistol grip and a three-position telescoping buttstock. The extra barrel assembly is configured similar to the current one, though in 5.56mm with an 11 inch barrel.
