This lot, along with the following two, constitute the finest set of C.S.M.C. shotguns that this writer has ever seen or even heard of. The work is incredible from start to finish on all six of the subject shotguns and simply cannot be improved upon. Blued steel barrels with single red bead sight on the matted vent rib which is marked with a gold inlaid "1" at the base, standard factory markings, interchangeable choke system (improved modified/full installed), and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin grey finished hand detachable sidelock action displays outstanding highly detailed full coverage Celtic knot designs which are interspersed with mythical designs, mostly resembling dragons, with many eating their own tails. The extremely intricate engraving extends to the toplever, which is marked with another golden "1", trigger guard, and both tangs. The gun features gold lock pins, carved fences, a single gold trigger, and a tang mounted automatic safety/selector switch. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and a gold "1" on the shoe as well as a Deeley latch release. The stock is equally beautiful with the same checkering, engraved coin grip cap, and leather covered recoil pad. This pair is consecutively numbered to the following two lots, each of which contains two magnificent shotguns numbered 3 and 4, and, 5 and 6. Includes an aluminum takedown case that houses both guns and six extra choke tubes (skeet, improved cylinder, modified (x2), improved modified, full).
