Description:

The Colt Single Action Army was one of the most popular handguns in late 19th century and is easily the most iconic and most thoroughly associated with the American West. This example was manufactured in 1886, and it certainly has the classic look of an authentic cowboy gun. The barrel has the correct two-line Hartford marking on top. The left side of the frame has the three-line patent dates marking. The caliber designation "45 CAL" is stamped on the left side of the trigger guard. Matching serial numbers appear on the frame, trigger guard and back strap.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retaining traces of original blue finish in the sheltered areas, with heavier amounts of original blue on the barrel under the ejector rod housing, otherwise an attractive smooth brown patina and some scattered light pitting associated with a well traveled side arm. The grip is very fine showing typical age lines on the bottom, some minor handling marks and attractive grain and aged appearance. Mechanically functions, but is slightly out of time and needs work. An authentic Colt SAA with great Western frontier issue type character.
