A refined and streamlined successor to the MP38, the MP40 made extensive use of metal stampings and synthetic materials to make a weapon robust enough to withstand the stress of war while being simple enough to manufacture to keep up with the demand. Nearly every armed branch and paramilitary organization in Germany made use of the MP40, and many also found their way into the hands of opposition forces such as the French Resistance and Poland's Home Army, making it one of the signature weapons of the war. "MP40/bnz.42/5940/c" (Steyr) marked on the rear receiver end cap. Matching serial number "5940c" marked on the front left of the receiver tube. The barrel nut, bolt, underside of the trigger housing and underfolding shoulder stock are stamped with full and partial matching serial numbers and the appropriate Waffenamt proofs. Replacement firing pin numbered "447", replacement sight hood is numbered "759" on the left, and the modern replacement barrel is marked "2G7/M" underneath the breech. Blade front and two-leaf rear sight, with an alloy protective rib on the underside of the barrel, machined bolt with telescoping captive recoil spring assembly, and dark brown bakelite lower receiver cover and grips. Includes a leather sling.

Very good, retains 30% original blue finish with scattered light pitting and smooth brown patina on the balance with some scattered light handling marks. Modern replacement barrel as mentioned above. Magazine retains 90% refinished blue finish with some scattered patches of mild pitting. The grips and receiver covers are also very good with some light scratches and handling marks, and mild crazing. Mechanically functions fine, although the barrel has a bulge down the bore. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
