Highly Desirable Remington Model No. 4 American Boy Scout Rolling Block Single Shot Rifle with Rare Bayonet

Blade front and adjustable folding rear sights and a bayonet lug on the barrel. "AMERICAN BOY SCOUT" marked on the left of the action. Military "musket" style handguard and straight grip stock with metal buttplate. The right side of the frame features a brass collection tag marked "JS 78". Includes a bayonet with blued handle and a leather sheath. One of only approximately 1,500 manufactured around 1913-1914. Provenance: The David Burghoff Collection

ConditionExcellent, retaining 95% original blue finish and 90% original vivid case colors with limited handling marks, a few tiny spots of oxidation behind the front sight, some light muzzle wear, and an attractive patina on the collection tag. Wood is excellent, retaining most of the original varnish with scattered light dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Bayonet is fine with 40% of the original blue thinning to brown on the balance of the metal grip and some light pitting. Leather scabbard is also fine.
