Manufactured in 1893 with the standard two-line address and patent dates on the upper barrel flat along with the caliber marking at the breech. The "MARLIN SAFETY" marking is partially visible on top of the receiver. The barrel is fitted with a standard elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight in the rear dovetail. A dovetail has been added to the top of the receiver (partially obscures the "safety" marking) and holds an elevation adjustable scope base, while a scope ring has been fitted into the front sight dovetail and has a bead front sight on top of it. The scope ring and base hold the included Wm. Malcolm scope that has the standard Syracuse, New York address in the area of the rear base and a fixed notch sight on top of the tube in front of the address. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 80% plus of the bright original blue finish and 75% of the vibrant original case colors with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth brown patina. The wood is also very fine with some scattered minor scratches and dings, and retaining most of the varnish. The scope tube retains most of the original finish which show an attractive plum-brown hue. The optics appear dirty but the crosshair is crisp and clear. Mechanically fine.
