Description:

Manufactured by Simeon North in 1819-1823. This is the first U.S. model to use the swivel mounted ramrod, and they were used into the early 1850s. This early "type 1" variation is not dated. It has a rounded brass blade front sight, dished rear sight on the upper tang, "JDJ/P/US" on the left at the breech, "S. NORTH/U [eagle and shield]S/MIDLTN CONN.," an "LS" cartouche (inspector Luther Sage) along with "E.F" and "V" stamps on the left stock flat, "LT" on the left by the toe, and a deep condemnation mark near the vent indicating this pistol was not selected for conversion to percussion and remains in original flintlock configuration.

Rating Definition:

Very good with gray and brown patina, mild oxidation and pitting mainly by the vent and on the cock, dark patina on the pan, and mild overall wear. The stock is also very good and has smooth oiled finish, some nice figure and grain, light dings and scratches, and legible markings. The safety isn't functioning; otherwise, mechanically excellent.
