The only markings on this functional modern custom made scaled down replica of a Model 1835 mountain howitzer are "NO./05" on the left trunnion and "1860" on the right trunnion. Measuring 28 inches long from muzzle to rear tip and 9 1/4 inches wide at the trunnions, with a bore measuring 1 1/4 inches. The unmarked olive green carriage with black iron hardware measures approximately 61 inches in length, with a 39 inch width, and a wheel height of 30 1/4 inches. The carriage is fitted with iron bound 12 spoke wheels, an elevation wheel, and includes tools. Although the bore and overall dimensions of this reproduction are quite a bit smaller and not exact, it appears to be modeled after a Model 1835 12-pounder mountain howitzer; reference pages 134-137 of "Field Artillery Weapons of the Civil War" by James C. Hazlett, Edwin Olmstead, and M. Hume Parks.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, the brass tube remains mostly bright. The carriage is also very fine with nearly all of its painted finishes.
