Description:

This cannon appears to be inert, lacking a touch hole or other form of ignition, and appears to be unmarked. The smoothbore barrel is made of brass and measures approximately 31 1/2 inches including the cascabel with multiple wedding bands and a reinforced band at the trunnions. The carriage is hardwood with a red-brown enamel finish and detailed brass fittings throughout, an elevation adjustment screw, and copper plating on the wheels. It appears to be a custom made piece that is not specifically based on any historical design. Including the carriage the piece measures approximately 58 1/2 x 32 1/2 x 23 inches.

Rating Definition:

Fine as custom made, the brass and copper showing an attractive, lightly aged, patina overall and some scattered light wear/handling evidence on the wood carriage.
