Description:

This cannon appears to have been intended for display, though there is a touch hole at the rear of the barrel, and it appears to be unmarked. The smoothbore barrel is made of brass and measures approximately 24 inches including the cascabel, and is similar in shape to an M1857 12 lb. Napoleon. The carriage is hardwood with a grey enamel finish and mostly black finished iron fittings. It appears to be a custom made piece that is not specifically based on any historical design. Including the carriage the piece measures approximately 33 x 23 x 24 inches.

Rating Definition:

Fine, the brass showing an attractively aged patina overall. The carriage is also very good retaining most of the grey enamel with some scattered minor handling marks and the iron fittings retain most of the black finish apart from the wheel fittings, which show mostly brown patina.
