This is one of approximately 5,000 Army Model percussion revolvers manufactured by Rogers & Spencer Co. on a U.S. government contract issued November 1864, with the first 1,500 reportedly delivered by the end of April 1865. The revolver features a silver cone and frame groove sights with the top strap stamped "ROGERS & SPENCER/UTICA N-Y" on either side of the sighting groove. Matching numbers are present on the frame, butt, cylinder, loading lever, and grips. Small single letter ordnance inspection marks are stamped on various components. Boxed "RPB" inspection cartouche stamped on the lower portion of the left grip panel.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 70% original blue finish with scattered flaking and smooth brown patina on the balance. Grips are very good as refinished with numerous small chips on the bottom edges, re-glued cracked sections on the lower edge of the left panel and on the rear of the right panel, and scattered light dings and dents. Mechanically excellent.
