Manufactured in 1915 and undoubtedly at the beginning of manufacture of the Woodsman pistols. The pistol was shipped to F.C. Nichols, the then Vice President of Colt. The top of the pencil thin barrel is marked with the two-line address/1903 patent date, the left side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE", the Rampant Colt is marked on the left rear of the slide behind the serrations, and the serial number is marked on the front strap. Standard elevation adjustable front blade sight, windage adjustable rear sight, smooth trigger, "CAL. 22/COLT" marked two-tone magazine and checkered walnut grips with a diamond around the screw. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber and barrel length with the grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 to F.C. Nichols, the Vice President of Colt at the time, at Colt in Hartford, Ct, on September 7, 1915. Comes with a black hinged lid box and an original manual.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 99% bright original high polish blue finish with some minor muzzle wear. The grips are also excellent showing crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fair with some material loose, tape repairs and oil and soil stained interior. An extraordinary example of the 5th Pre-Woodsman pistol made. If you want to own one Colt Woodsman style pistol for your Colt collection, here it is!
