This Springfield Armory M1 Garand rifle was manufactured in January of 1945 and subsequently arsenal modified to M1D configuration. The M1D was the standard Army sniper rifle from the mid-1950s until the late 1960s. M1D rifles remained in the inventories of some Army National Guard units and Special Forces groups until the early 1990s. This rifle was probably overhauled and assembled to M1D configuration at an Army Ordnance Depot in the 1960s. The rifle is fitted with a standard blued M84 2.2 power telescopic sight with post and cross-wire cross-hairs, sliding sun shield, and rubber eyepiece. The rifle has the special M1D barrel with scope mounting block and is double stamped with what appears to be "S-A-1-52" on the right of the chamber. "12-SA" marked trigger housing, "W.R.A." trigger guard, "HRA" hammer and "-19SA" bolt. Two "P" proof marks are visible on the front of the pistol grip. The included telescopic sight has a plate on the right side marked "TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO. 27463". Includes M2 cone flash hider, olive drab green canvas sling and russet leather cheekpiece stamped "MRT/3-59" on the right.

Very fine as arsenal converted to M1D configuration, retains 98% arsenal parkerized finish with some light handling marks. Stock is excellent with some light handling marks and defined edges. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent, retains 98% original blue finish with clear optics. Included cheekpiece is very fine.
