The Norwegian Kongsberg Model 1914, used by the Norwegian army, was a slightly modified copy of the U.S. Model 1911 pistol. This Model 1914 features a slide dated "1945" on the right side. The left side of the slide is marked with the later model 1914 caliber, model, and serial number marking with the Kongsberg Crest and "WaA84". Matching serial numbers found on frame, slide, barrel, trigger, safety, mainspring housing, grip safety, and slide release. The magazine is uniquely marked "3" through "7" (cartridge count) on the left side. Two very similar pistols are pictured on page 117 of Karl Egil Hanevik's "KONGSBERG-COLTEN" book. Includes a leather shoulder type holster marked "CARL KUNTZE/PENIG-SA/1945" on the back. Provenance: The Mel Raucher Collection
Excellent, retains 95% plus of the original phosphate finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina, primarily in the form of light edge wear and a few scattered light handling marks. The grips are also excellent with some light wear, a few light handling marks, crisp checkering, and retaining most of the original black finish. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine with some mild wear.
