Manufactured in 1871, the first year of production. Floral scroll and punch dot engraving is featured on the rear sides of the frame, behind the hammer, and on the sides of the spur trigger. An engraved scallop pattern is featured on the top strap. The top of the barrel is marked "COLTS HOUSE PISTOL/HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." flanked by Maltese crosses. The barrel is numbered to the gun. The blue velvet lined oak case has a Colt's Pall Mall, London, paper label on the inside of the lid. The revolver lacks British proofs. The case has a cartridge block holding 13 rounds.

Very fine. The revolver retains 80% period retailer applied nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The slightly undersize grips are fine showing a couple of stress cracks near the screw and some minor handling marks with an attractive color. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some minor handling/storage marks and some high spot wear on the lining. Nearly all of the label remains.
