Description:

Manufactured in 1881. Standard two-line Hartford address on top of the barrel, patent date on the bottom and "COLT NEW 38" in an etched panel on the left. The back strap is engraved "F.T.BAKER. GUN MANUFACTURER, LONDON." The English oak case features a F.T. Baker of London paper label on the interior of the case. The oak case is lined in green baize and contains an oiler, a case key, a brass cleaning rod, a screwdriver, and five .380 Eley cartridges. This revolver is one of roughly 4,000 manufactured from 1880-1886, as a continuation of the "house" revolver line, and part of Colt's "New" line of revolvers.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine, retaining 85% plus original nickel plating overall with slight flaking around the front of the cylinder. The etched panel is crisp. The blue on the back of the hammer, trigger, cylinder pin and pin catch is bright and slightly fading on the screws. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine some minor handling/storage marks on the exterior and typical high spot wear on the lining. Nearly all of the retailer label remains.
