These derringers were introduced in 1870 and totaled around 48,000 produced. The left side of the frame on this deringer is marked with a "C" and Rampant Colt, as well as the caliber marking. This example has a unique, two-line address "COLT'S FIRE ARMS CO./14 PALL MALL LONDON." on the left of the barrel, a marking that may have been applied by the retailer and that is seldom seen on a Third Model deringer, and was reportedly deemed illegal at the time. The right side of the frame is engraved with the retailer's marking "E.M. REILLY & Co. LONDON." The top of the barrel has a rounded blade front sight and "COLT" in large italic letters and the bottom of the barrel has small British proofs. The serial number is marked on the left of the grip frame and inside the right grip It is fitted with a pair of smooth hardwood. Includes an oak presentation case with Colt London Agency label inside the lid, cleaning rod, key, and two .41 RF cartridges.

Very good, retains 98% plus of the retailer applied blue finish and 30% of the silver plating on the frame with the balance having thinned to reveal an attractively aged brass. The grips are very fine with some scattered light handling marks and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.
