KUCHENREUTER" in silver inlay on the top flats of the barrels surrounded by silver borders and scroll patterns, "I.A./KUCHENREUTER" on the locks, and has a silver maker's cartouche on the breech end of the barrels in the shape of a mounted rider. The fire blued barrels also have silver "spider" base front sights and sighting and side flats, and the upper tangs have three-leaf rear sights and "i" and "2" respectively. The pistols have adjustable single set triggers. The furniture is bright iron, and the wrist escutcheons the entwined initials "RB." The stocks have horn forend caps, mix of incised and raised relief carved scroll patterns, nice molding, fleur-de-lis style drop-points, and narrow wrists. The pair comes in a fitted hardwood case with a rods, containers, an oiler, turn-screw, small powder flask, and ball mold.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 40% original niter blue on the visible portion of the barrel and likely nearly all under the stock line, bright furniture with some minor spotting, and general minor wear. The stock is also fine and has crisp carving, some nice figure, and crack running from the tip of the trigger guard finial up to the left side of the forend. Mechanically excellent. The refinished case and accessories are very good with mild age and storage related wear, a replaced compartment lid, and some cracks visible in the lid.
