The receiver of this rifle was originally manufactured in January of 1944 and subsequently arsenal upgraded to the M1D sniper configuration, a procedure more typically performed on Springfield made M1 receivers. Rifles so converted were used as snipers during Korea and the Vietnam War. Blade front and peep rear sights, "DRC" windage drum, "S-A-8-52" barrel, "SA" bolt, trigger housing, safety and hammer, Winchester trigger guard and a Harrington & Richardson relief cut operating rod. The stock is "P" proof marked on the front of the pistol grip, with a checkered steel buttplate and fitted with a "MRT/2 52" leather cheek piece. The M84 scope is numbered "30160", with a sliding sun shield and rubber eyepiece. Includes an olive drab green canvas sling.

Very fine as arsenal converted to M1D configuration, retains 97% arsenal parkerized finish, showing a few patches of moderate pitting concentrated on the receiver underneath the finish. Stock is also very fine with defined edges, some light handling marks and a crisp firing proof. Mechanically excellent. Scope is very fine, retains 90% original blue finish with some light freckling and a few patches of light pitting on the sliding sun shield, and clear optics. Included cheek piece is excellent.
