Description:

Winchester's Model 1873 is popularly known as "The Gun that Won the West" and was highly coveted, so much so that many Texas Rangers such as J.B. Gillett paid out of pocket to arm themselves with '73s. This rifle was manufactured in 1882 and features a low, rounded "Rocky Mountain" blade front sight, the standard markings, an adjustable sporting rear sight, third model dust cover with integral guide rail, and smooth forearm and rifle stock with crescent buttplate (compartment empty).

Rating Definition:

Fair with an attractive "frontier issued" appearance overall including heavy semi-circular "saddle wear" on the rear of the forearm. This is clearly a rifle that saw some real use. It mainly displays an honest dark brown patina with mild oxidation and pitting throughout. The cartridge elevator and buttplate door have attractive aged patina. The wood definitely shows signs of use and age but remains solid overall and has some dings, dents, and scratches. Mechanically fine. This is definitely a Winchester Model 1873 that has that historic "was there" old west look.
