Description:

Approximately 7,000 of these revolvers were manufactured circa 1872-1873. It has a German silver blade front sight, notch rear sight at the breech end of the barrel, "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" on top of the barrel, the standard naval battle scene on the cylinder, "-PAT. JULY. 25. 1871.-/-PAT. JULY. 2. 1872.-" on the left side of the frame, matching visible serial numbers, and a smooth grip with a high polish varnish finish. A copy of the factory letter states this revolver has a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .44 Rimfire and blue finish with plated guards when shipped to H&D Folsom Arms Co. of New York City on July 11, 1874.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 90% plus of the vibrant original case colors, 70% original blue finish on the back strap and ejector housing, 20% original silver plating on the trigger guard, and distinct markings and cylinder scene. The finish on the barrel and cylinder are now a silver-gray. There is a clean line along the bottom of the barrel lug where it switches abruptly from flaking blue finish to smooth gray. The grip is very good and has most of the original varnish on the sides, the butt once sanded, removing the varnish, small chips at the lower edges, and minor scratches and marks. Mechanically excellent.
