This 18th century pistol is signed "Coionet LeLionnoir" on the lock. The smoothbore barrel has gold bands, a silver "spider base" front sight, gold inlaid soldier with a spear/pike, gold floral and scroll patterns on the breech section, and a "D" on the left side. The lock and tang have classical martial and hunting themed engraving. The silver furniture has floral and scroll patterns with interspersed martial motifs. The stock has fine molding and tear drop flats and raised relief carved floral scroll patterns at the entry pipe and top of the wrist. Ramrod absent. Provenance: The Collection of Joe M. Fine with much of the original gold remaining on the barrel, gray and brown patina on the balance, some mild pitting by the vent, mostly light gray patina on the lock along with some minor pitting, dark aged patina on the furniture with small spots of lighter metal showing, and general mild age and storage related wear. The refinished stock is very good and has attractive grain, distinct carving, a repaired crack in the forend tip, and scattered light dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
