Manufactured by Haenel and imported by the Inter American Import Export Company of Sacramento, California, this is a solid representative example of the MP28.II SMG. A refinement of the World War One era MP18 SMG, the MP28.II was part of the last generation of "heavy metal" SMGs, prior to the transition to the MP38/MP40 models for the Germans. Blade front and tangent rear sight graduated to "10", with a ventilated receiver that doubles as a heat shield for the barrel and a magazine well marked "M.P.28.II/SYSTEM/SCHMEISSER/PATENT". The underside of the receiver bears the Inter American markings. A manual hook safety is integrated into the receiver, with a "D" and "E" marked pushbutton selector switch built into the trigger guard. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock with grasping grooves on the forearm and a ribbed steel buttplate.

Very good, with traces of blue finish in the protected areas and a mixed brown and gray patina on the remainder, with mild pitting and scattered handling marks. The stock is fair as cleaned and repaired, with cracks at the tip and wrist, a stabilizing plug added to the forearm, mild dents and scratches, and faded hand markings. Mechanically excellent.
