Description:

Manufactured c. 1986-1987 by the Tippmann Arms Co. of New Haven, Indiana as a scaled down version of the famous Model 1862 Gatling gun, the first of many variations. Richard Gatling's Model 1862 was the first step in a long line of firearms innovation that eventually led to modern day machine guns. The left side of the frame that joins the receiver and barrel group is marked "MODEL 1862 NO. 013/TIPPMANN ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN IN." The receiver is bright brass and the barrels are blued and it is fitted with blade front and notch rear sights. There is an elevation screw at the rear of the mount that joins it to the carriage. It is currently mounted on a two-wheeled hardwood carriage that is marked "GATLING/GUN" on the front and has mostly black finished iron fittings. Includes a hardwood tripod mount, hardwood case containing a number of cartridge sleeves, two total magazines, and a hardwood handle for adjusting the piece side to side. It measures approximately 60 x 40 x 29 inches overall.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 98% plus of the original blue finish and the brass generally showing an attractive, lightly aged patina. Many of the iron fittings retain most of their black finish while others show an attractive plum-brown hue. The wood components show minimal wear or handling marks overall. Mechanically excellent. A very desirable scale replica of the legendary Model 1862 Gatling Gun!
