Blued steel barrel with ramped beaded blade front sight, four position (one standing, three folding) express rear sight, and caliber marking of ".450 3 1/4 Inch". The casehardened falling block action displays beautifully executed floral scroll engraving in a diamond pattern flanked by four flourishes around the outside on either side. The engraving extends to the action lever which has two sprays on engraving, one on either end. The work is signed "R. P. BONE" at the bottom of the left hand side for Master Engraver Ralph Bone. Bone was a highly skilled engraver, gun maker, and knife maker, many examples of his work are found in "The Artistry of Ralph P. Bone" by J. Huxley Walters. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with contrasting ebony tip and pistol grip stock with engraved and casehardened grip cap, raised shadowline cheekpiece, and checkered steel blued buttplate.
Very fine as masterfully built and embellished by Ralph Bone, retaining 99% plus blue and casehardened finishes, limited handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
