The accompanying factory letter indicates the revolver was originally shipped on September 5, 1956 to Belknap Hardware & Mfg. Co. of Louisville, Kentucky. The revolver later received a beautiful, rich custom embellishment consisting of semi-relief engraved scrollwork at 75% coverage accented with fine gold inlays such as double bands on the barrel at the muzzle and breech, triangles and single band on the cylinder, and flourishes complementing the engraving on top of the back strap. Even the sides of the hammer are scroll engraved. Both grip straps are numbered to the gun.
