Manufactured in 1968. Standard barrel markings and Belgian proofs. The attractively grayed receiver body features fine floral and scroll engraving on a darkened background with a bugling elk on the left of the front ring and a pronghorn on the right. The floorplate is engraved with a white-tailed deer in dense vegetation. The trigger guard features a bear surrounded by floral scroll. The rifle is signed "VANDERSMISSENG" on the right and left of the receiver ring, "A. MARECHAL" on the floor plate and "DR" on the trigger guard. Mounted in an exceptionally well-figured pistol grip stock with fine checkering, floral carved accented borders, contrasting rosewood forend tip and grip cap, gold diamond on the grip cap, raised cheekpiece, and solid Pachmayr White Line recoil pad.
Excellent retains 99% plus of the original blue and grey finishes with a few scattered small patches of light brown speckling on the bolt handle and cocking piece. The wood is also excellent with only the slightest handling marks, crisp checkering/carving, and retaining nearly all of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.
