This Winchester print was used in a variety of Winchester advertisements and depicts a barn setting with white "bear dogs" in the foreground and two large brown dogs that may be bloodhounds in the background. These dogs were reportedly part of the Winchester family hunting pack. The lower left corner is signed by the artist "H. R. Poore/Philadelphia". This example of the print includes a printed "frame" that has the markings like many of the original stenciled walnut frames had. (These are far rarer as few survived, most were trimmed down!) The plain walnut frame measures approximately 39 3/4 x 49 1/4 inches, and there is a thin gold border around the print.
Fine, the print showing only slight fading with some repeated vertical moderate creasing visible, mostly concentrated on the right side of the print. The cartridge board frame is very good with some mild handling/storage wear. A great piece to hang in a gun room or study!
