Colt New Line .22 Etched Panel Revolver with Scarce Factory Box

Manufactured 1876, the top of the barrel marked with the standard two-line Colt address, patent marking on the bottom, and the left of the barrel with the desirable etched panel marked "COLT NEW 22". The left of the frame has the caliber marking and the serial number is marked on the butt, with "94" on the bottom of the barrel and rear face of the cylinder. It is fitted with a pair of smooth rosewood grips with the full serial number marked inside the right panel faintly in pencil. Includes a scarce factory Colt box marked for "COLT'S/New Seven Shot Revolver", a plain modern box labeled to the gun, and an informational plaque. Provenance: The Don and Carol Wilkerson Collection

ConditionVery fine, retains 70% of the original blue finish with the balance having mostly thinned to a smooth brown patina, and 80% plus of the original nickel finish with some thinning on edges showing an attractively aged brass. The etched panel is crisp. The grips are very good with a few scattered minor dings and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The factory box is very good with a large dark stain on the lid, moderate wear, and a few tears/tape repairs.
