Manufactured 1876, the top of the barrel marked with the standard two-line Colt address, patent marking on the bottom, and the left of the barrel with the desirable etched panel marked "COLT NEW 22". The left of the frame has the caliber marking and the serial number is marked on the butt. The frame, cylinder, and barrel have factory floral scroll and zig-zag line engraving. It is fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips. Includes a scarce factory Colt box marked for "COLT'S SEVEN SHOT PISTOL". Provenance: The Don and Carol Wilkerson Collection
Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original nickel finish with the balance having thinned to reveal an attractively aged brass, with the etched panel and engraving both crisp. The grips are excellent with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is good with moderate wear, tape repair visible mostly on bottom box edges, as well as some moderate fading and staining.
