Manufactured c. 1830s. The smoothbore barrel has a flat top with a bead front sight and "AYLSHAM" signed on top. The underside of the barrel has two proofs that look like "crown/OP" similar to the London "crown/GP" proof with an "X" and what looks to be "STUBS" in between and a "B" at the breech. The lock is not marked. The standing breech has martial and floral engraving, and the trigger guard has a pineapple finial and floral engraving. The stock has a checkered wrist. The ramrod has a horn tip. Aylsham, Norfolk, England, is on the River Bure near the North Sea. Provenance: The Collection of Joe M. Wanenmacher Jr

Rating Definition:

Very good with mostly silver-gray patina on the polished metal surfaces, patches of mild pitting, and general mild overall wear. The re-oiled stock is also very good and has crisp checkering, a thin crack at the tail of the flats, and general dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
