Description:

Measuring 37 inches overall, with a 32 inch nickel finished blade with etched decoration on both sides. The left side of the blade scenes of horsemen climbing hills and jumping ditches, flanked by reichadler eagles, and the right etched "Kavallerie Regt. No 18". Established by the Reichswehr in 1919, incorporating the traditions of multiple Imperial-era cavalry units, the 18th would be split up in 1939 as part of an overall reorganization that saw most German horse units broken up and reassigned as reconnaissance detachments for the infantry. Members of the unit included multiple Knight's Cross winners and Hans Scholl, who would later be executed for his role in the White Rose student resistance movement. Fitted with a nickel finished hilt, dove-head pommel, green and silver acorn on a leather knot, and a black enamel finished scabbard. Provenance: The Paul Crockett Jr. Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with light handling marks overall and some scuffing of the scabbard.
