The barrel features a hooded ramped blade front sight with light engraving and "GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK, NY" marked on the top. The action is engraved with floral designs on the right and left of the front receiver ring and a leopard on the top side. The bolt is checkered on the knob and is numbered "596". It is fitted with a Griffin & Howe scope mount with engraved rings and holding a Leupold VX-6 2-12x42 scope. The floorplate is engraved in the style of Robert Swartley with a lion standing over a zebra carcass and the trigger guard has a hunter poised to take the shot in a prone position. Attractively figured, multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with horn forend tip, engraved casehardened grip cap, raised cheekpiece, sling studs, blank inscription oval, and red rubber recoil pad.
Very fine as upgraded to the current configuration, retaining 98% plus Griffin & Howe applied blue with minor handling evidence, a few small dings and scratches in the wood, and sharp checkering on the stock. The scope optics are sharp. Mechanically excellent.
