Blued Winchester proof steel barrels with a single bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, chokes marked "IMP CYL"/"MOD", and chambers marked 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors. The blued action is unadorned and features a single selective trigger and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Attractively figured, multi-point checkered beavertail forend and pistol grip stock with checkered factory buttplate. Includes a letter stating that this gun was originally bought as a gift by Otto Kerner (former Governor of Illinois) for his wife Helena Cermak Kerner (daughter of the late Chicago mayor). The letter also mentions inlaid initials in the stock which are not present, likely meaning the stock is a replacement. Includes the matching number modified buttstock and forend. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .620/.620 inches; choke constriction .011/.015 inches; minimum wall thickness .024/.023 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 5/8 inch drop at heel; 13 15/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 10 oz.
Very fine, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with some rubbing at the muzzles, a scratch on the left of the action, light handling/use evidence, and sharp checkering on the refinished, recheckered, replacement wood. Mechanically excellent.
