The Model 1862 Police was in many was the pinnacle of Colt's percussion revolvers. It combined high quality steel, more refined finishing touches such as the flutes in the cylinder, and compact firepower. This fine condition example was manufactured in 1863 and has "COLT/PATENT" double stamped on the frame and otherwise standard markings and features, including matching serial numbers aside from the cylinder which is marked "71" and "40."
Fine with 70% original blue finish, 50% original case colors, traces of original silver plating, aged patina on the grip frame, some casting flaws in the forward lower frame, and moderate dings and scratches. The grip is fine and has numerous dings, scratches, a faint crack at one corner on the right, and mild edge wear. Mechanically fine.
