Description:

This desirable quarter-plate tintype features two solemn looking Union cavalry troopers from the Civil War. Both of the troopers appear to be armed with M1860 cavalry sabers and Colt Model 1851 Navy revolvers. They are attributed as being members of the 3rd Ohio Volunteer cavalry due to a distinct pattern of trim on the front of their jackets and one of them having a "G/3" (mirrored horizontally) badge on the front of his cap, signifying Company G of the 3rd Regiment. The tintype is mounted in a typical period leatherette wrapped case. The 3rd Ohio was raised in 1861 and took part in the Siege of Corinth, Battles of Stone's River and Chickamauga, the Chattanooga Campaign, and Siege of Atlanta.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, the image distinct with minimal wear evident and the case showing some mild handling/storage wear.
