Description:

Manufactured early 18th century. The lock has floral engraving, a bestial head on the hammer, and "REISSMULLER" signed at the center. It has brass furniture, including a Hessian jaeger rifle style trigger guard. The stock has a horn forend tip, molding, nicely shaped flats, floral scroll carving, and a long cheekpiece.

Rating Definition:

Fine with traces of original blue and casehardened finish mixed with dark patina and mild oxidation along the barrel, silver-gray patina on the lock, aged patina on the brass and reservoir, mild dents and scratches on the reservoir, and general mild wear. The stock is also fine and has a crack and some chipping by the lock, distinct carving, some scratches and dings, and mild wear overall. Not mechanically tested.
