Queen Victoria's "Crown/V.R." cipher marked at the tail of the lock and "1862/L.A. Co." ahead of the hammer, London crown proofs and "25" bore markings on the left of the breech indicating .577 caliber, small "L.A.C" markings on various components, an oval script cartouche stamped on the left stock flat, and the right of the buttstock is stamped with a double roundel marked "LONDON ARMOURY BERMONDSEY" in the outer circle and dated "1862" in the center. Initials "WK" carved upside down in the lower right of the buttstock. Includes a period socket bayonet.
Very good with mostly smooth brown patina overall and otherwise sharp markings and edges in the metal. Brass exhibits an attractive age darkened patina. Stock is fine as re-oiled, with numerous scattered dents and scratches, carving as mentioned above, and mostly clear stampings. Mechanically excellent. Included bayonet is good with some scattered patches of light to moderate pitting.
