Outstanding Documented Pre-World War I Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine with Desirable Full Marble's Sights and Factory Letter

Manufactured in 1907, this is an outstanding example of a Winchester Model 1894 saddle ring carbine. It has the standard two-line address and caliber marking on top of the barrel, and Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the standard three-line model/trademark information, and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Import marked on underside of the barrel. It is fitted with a rarely seen set of Marble's sights including a pinned No. 94C beaded blade front sight, a No. 95L adjustable leaf rear sight, and on the upper tang is a Marble's Flexible Rear sight with the early "tab" locking catch. Though these sights are not specifically listed in the factory letter, they have the appearance of having been fitted at the factory and were almost certainly special ordered. There is a saddle ring fitted to the left of the receiver and it is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. The included factory letter (copy) lists the carbine in .32-40 caliber when received at the warehouse on 27 February 1907 and shipped on 25 July 1907 in order number 96569. This carbine is featured in the Spring 2014 issue of "The Winchester Collector" in an article by Brad Dunbar titled "Winchester Model 1894 Sights Part 2: 1900-1907", where these special Marble's sights are pictured and discussed. Provenance: The Wayne Connor Collection

ConditionExcellent, retains 97% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish, 95% of the original nitre blue on the loading gate, and 95% plus of the vibrant original case colors with some faint thinning on the lower barrel band and bottom of the lever, and some light muzzle wear. The wood is also excellent with a few scattered light handling marks and a few faint scuffs in the finish on the right of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent. An outstanding Model 1894 carbine in its own right, this example is fitted with a rare full set of Marble's sights that you are unlikely to encounter again!
