Manufactured in 1907, this is an outstanding example of a Winchester Model 1894 saddle ring carbine. It has the standard two-line address and caliber marking on top of the barrel, and Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the standard three-line model/trademark information, and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Import marked on underside of the barrel. It is fitted with a rarely seen set of Marble's sights including a pinned No. 94C beaded blade front sight, a No. 95L adjustable leaf rear sight, and on the upper tang is a Marble's Flexible Rear sight with the early "tab" locking catch. Though these sights are not specifically listed in the factory letter, they have the appearance of having been fitted at the factory and were almost certainly special ordered. There is a saddle ring fitted to the left of the receiver and it is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. The included factory letter (copy) lists the carbine in .32-40 caliber when received at the warehouse on 27 February 1907 and shipped on 25 July 1907 in order number 96569.
