The included factory letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed) of this revolver when shipped in a 1 gun shipment to Schoverling, Daly & Gables in New York on July 7th, 1883. The barrel has the one-line Hartford address on top and "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" marked on the left. The underside of the barrel is correctly marked "44" is small font. Matching serial number "395" marked on the rear of the cylinder and "95" on the loading gate and grip frame. Includes a modern box handnumbered to the gun, and a copy of the book "Colt's Double Action Revolver" by Don Wilkerson. Provenance: The Don and Carol Wilkerson Collection
Very fine, retains 70% plus bright original high polish blue finish with flaking and brown on the balance, and some scattered patches of light pitting. The grips are also very fine with limited handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
