Manufactured in 1879. The top of the barrel has the two-line Colt Hartford address and the left side of the barrel has the desirable etched panel marked "COLT NEW 41". The right side of the barrel has the retailer inscription "T.W.WATSON/4. PALL MALL. LONDON." There are London proof marks on the underside of the barrel and each cylinder flute. The serial number is marked on the left side of the grip frame, bottom of the barrel, and "538" on the rear face of the cylinder. The left side of the frame is marked "41CAL C" for centerfire. It is fitted with a pair of smooth rosewood grips. Includes an oak presentation case with Watson Bros. interior label, cleaning rod, screwdriver, key, and oiler.
Fine, 60% of the original blue and vibrant casehardened finishes remain with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The grips are also fine with some scattered minor dings and dents. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some slight separation of the lid pieces, a few scattered hairline cracks, and some mild handling/storage wear.
