One of approximately 4,000 manufactured from 1880 to 1886, with this example produced in 1884. The top of the barrel has the very scarce three-line Hartford and Pall Mall London addresses, and the "COLT HOUSE 38" etched panel is on the left. There are British proofs on the barrel and cylinder. It has standard features and the serial number is marked on the butt. Includes an oak case with Peter Small, Newcastle on Tyne retailer label inside the lid, screwdriver, cleaning rod, and oiler.

Fine, retains 60% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a brown-grey patina, primarily on the cylinder and edges, and a few scattered small patches of light pitting. The grips are also fine with some minor flaking and handling marks scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some scattered light handling/storage marks.
