Manufactured during WWI for the Imperial German Navy, with the distinctive 6 inch barrel and 2-position notch rear sight. Dated "1916" on the front sight base, left receiver rail, and on top of the chamber, with the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle link, "crown" firing proofs on the barrel, extension and breechblock; and the "crown/M" Navy proof twice on the extension and once on the barrel. "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" marked upper safety area and extractor, with straw finished small parts, niter blue pins and springs, checkered grips, and a nickel-finished magazine with hardwood base, decorated with concentric circles on the sides and "crown/M" and "4615" visible on the wood bottom. The grips are unnumbered, otherwise parts are matching overall. Included with the lot is a Navy-pattern brown pigskin flap holster and a small takedown tool.
Excellent, with 95% of the original blue finish, showing some minor spotting concentrated on the grip straps, bright edge wear, and mild handling marks. 90% plus original straw color is present on the small parts, showing mild spotting, and the sear spring and rear toggle pin show bright niter blue. The grips are excellent, with some light dings and crisp checkering. The holster is fair, with the cleaning rod flap absent, the main flap torn, and a number of scuffs and cracks. Mechanically excellent.
