Description:

Dating to the third quarter of the 17th century, the back action lock has an angel, scroll, and bestial mask design engraved over "MASTRECH" (Maastricht). The other components have scroll patterns. The hand rotated tapering barrels are smoothbore. A ramrod rides between two of the barrels. A small trigger at the front of the trigger guard releases the barrels. The vent hole is large enough that the pistol should self-prime between shots if it is tilted to the side. The consignor informs us that this pistol was purchased from the Henk Visser collection!

Rating Definition:

Fine with the metal polished and exhibiting mostly silver-gray patina, distinct engraving, mild pitting, crack in the ramrod ferrule, and general moderate overall wear. The stock is also fine and has some small flakes at the edges, distinct molding, light dings and scratches, and some attractive figure. Mechanically fine.
